ROOM BOOKINGThe BMI has three main spaces in its heritage building available for hire by persons, community groups or commercial organisations for meetings, cultural or social purposes. The rooms vary in size and range of facilities available. They are in close proximity to each other and may be hired separately or in combination. In order of size, the spaces are: The Hugh Williamson Foyer: This room (1869) is on the Mezzanine level immediately below the Humffray Room. It has lift access and holds up to 40 people seated theatre style, up to 60 standing. It has a small kitchenette with servery. It is suitable for meetings, small receptions or celebrations and light entertainment events. The Hooper Room: Recently vacated by South Street, this room is an ideal meeting room for up to 40 people, it is located in the centre of town and only a 5-minute walk from many professional business locations. Located off this room, for maximum privacy, is a small kitchenette and toilet. The Humffray Room: This beautifully restored heritage room (1869) on the second level overlooking Sturt Street has a carpeted floor and a 4.5 x 5m polished board area. The room has lift access. Facilities include a piano, bar/servery, 3 door refrigerator unit, sink, hot water and glasswasher. The Humffray Room can hold up to 120 seated theatre-style and 70 seated dinner-style. A sound amplifying system is available in the room. The room has hydronic heating. The Minerva Space: This is the beautifully restored 1860 former hall and one time cinema area on the first level of the building. Its pressed metal ceiling and decorative features were restored in 2010 and it is painted in 19th century heritage colours. The new, flat, polished jarrah floor is sound insulated from rooms below. It has hydronic heating. The Minerva Space is served by the lift and has easy access to Williamson Foyer and Humffray Room. The original stage is located at the south end of the space. Capacity is 290 persons. Amenities Toilets are accessed through the Williamson Foyer. These toilets are available to users of the Humffray Room, Minerva Space and Foyer. All levels are accessible by the lift. There is a toilet for disabled persons in the Foyer. |

Hire Rates
All rates quoted include GST.
- Opening and closing the building after normal office hours will incur an additional cost of $25.00 for each time.
- Minimum booking for spaces other than the Humffray Room and Minerva Space is 2 hours. The Humffray Room and Minerva Space have a set minimum booking as shown in the table below.
