Office-bearers are elected at the Annual General Meeting (AGM) each year. Other Board members are elected for 2 year terms with half the members retiring each year.

Retiring office-bearers and Board members are eligible for re-election.

Full members of the Institute are entitled to nominate for and vote in any election for any vacant positions on the Board. Unless otherwise advised the AGM is held on the last Monday of June each year.

Since its inception, the Ballaarat Mechanics’ Institute has been a limited liability company, now registered with the Australian Securities and Investment Commission (ASIC) under the special provisions for not-for-profit community organisations.
